On Thursday, March 19, 2026, the Delany Foundation Board met at All Saints Catholic College, Liverpool, for the Board’s first meeting this year.
During the meeting, the Board approved a grant application that aligns with the foundation’s core values and meets grant criteria:
● Restoration and re-roofing of formation facilities on Bishop’s Hill, Aitape, PNG. The grant will assist the completion of the re-roofing of the Novitiate building and replace the guttering on the original residence. Grant approved: K.19,326 PGK ($6 385 AUD).
In the grant application, Br Bart Saiwo and Br Peter Ryan indicated that the Community makes facilities and equipment available to local parish and youth group initiatives.

Aitape is a small town of about 18,000 people on the north coast in the Sandaun Province. It has a bank, post office, a courthouse, and a police station. There are two secondary schools in the town: St Ignatius High School, where Patrician Br Ludmer teaches, and Aitape High.
Aitape was established around 1905 by German colonists. It was once occupied by the Imperial Japanese Army, and by the US army who established an airstrip there during WWII.
Bishops Hill, so named because the bishop of the diocese once resided there (red roof), sits on a hill overlooking the bay and the islands just off the coast.
